Once the roof is in place you can remove the support. Start with the walls of your barn then go up a level and add another set of walls but make this set one space in along the sides. As you can see over the open reception area the roof is coming through. Like this now just move into place on the right side.

Just thought it was something that should be mentioned to the engineers. Putting all the walls down allows you to place wall hangings but then you can t move them. That above is the problem i m having. Then level the guide wall.

Do the same thing with the left side of the roof. Now lower the roof. The only thing is the front wall has to be an even number of blocks wide for it to work. Grab the diagonal half hipped roof and rotate it so the flat side is facing the front of the room.

Here s one with the front wall four blocks wide and the roof raised up some. You must work with the wall to find that height again. Add a little trim work and your done. The other problem is a message that says can t intersect other objects this one is because something is getting in the way.

Once you move the terrain under a guide wall the walls above it will again go back to normal height. If you need a roof to extend from the house to an outbuilding for some reason but without supports down its length connect. Just add a piece of wall or a column where each corner will be and you should then be able to place the roof. You can already see where this is going.

The workaround is to place them then use sims 3 cam and zoom in close in cutaway. Its a pain has no design sense at all and generally just looks lousy. You can notice here that i had to lower the height to get.
